ANSI/ASHRAE 52.1 and 52.2 Test Dust

ASHRAE Test Dust #1 and #2 are formulated to specifications shown per ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 52.1 and 52.2. These products are designed for testing filters and components of heating, refrigeration and air conditioning systems. They have also been used in testing of electronic equipment as well as other industrial and household components.

  • ASHRAE Test Dust #1 is a custom blend of 72% ISO 12103-1, A2 Fine Test Dust, 23% powdered carbon and 5% milled cotton linters.
  • ASHRAE Test Dust #2 is a custom blend of 93.5% ISO 12103-1, A2 Fine Test Dust and 6.5% milled cotton linters.
    • Carbon black is Raven 410 Powder manufactured by Columbia Chemical Company.
    • Cotton Linters are Second Cut Cotton Linters milled in a Wiley Mill fitted with a 4 mm screen.
    • ASHRAE Test Dust containing carbon is conductive and may cause shorting of electrically charged devices.
    • ASHRAE Test Dust #1 and #2 are available in one gallon jars containing 1.5kg net weight of material.
